Yorkshire Specialist Coatings worked with Abbey Windows Goxhill Ltd, providing replacement windows around Hull Docks.

The Port of Hull is a trading port located at the confluence of the River Hull and the Humber Estuary in the city of Kingston upon Hull in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England.

Seaborne trade can be traced to at least the 13th century. As of 2010 the main port is operated by Associated British Ports and is estimated to handle one million passengers per year and is the main softwood timber importation port for the UK. The Port of Hull is a constituent port of the Hull and Humber Ports City Region.

Yorkshire Specialist Coatings were approached by Abbey Windows Goxhill Ltd to colour coat a number of uPVC windows and doors, transforming them from standard white uPVC to a vibrant blue, a very popular colour around the Port of Hull.

Utilising AVKO’s Avkote LE product which is perfect for plastics, eight casement windows and two exterior doors were painted on the external face of the frames providing an explosion of colour to the once plain profiles.

The Window and door frames were meticulously masked off where required to prevent painting of the black gaskets, cleaned with AVKO’s specially formulated cleaning solution before colour being applied in our purpose built spray booth, once fully dried and the masking removed, a protective film was applied to protect the profiles until installation was completed.

Avkote LE paint was used; this is a flexible yet highly durable polyurethane coating for PVCu and GRP constructions and is an especially fast drying, Satin 2K coating with very good weathering characteristics and good resistance to chemicals and mechanical abrasion.
