BS 381C Colour Chart

Many colour names were standardised in the 1930s by the British Colour Council and some of these have passed down into British Standard BS 381c, which contains such names as Signal red and PO (Post Office) red, and describes colours used for utility, municipal and military purposes. Many of the names used in British period tramway records tie up with colours in the standard. The colours visualized in the chart can differ due to the capabilities of your computer monitor, setup of your software and accuracy of your colour printer.
