Yorkshire Specialist Coatings worked with Halifax Glass to provide new, bespoke shower enclosures and bath panelling for the student accommodation blocks at Aston University, Birmingham.
Founded in 1895 and a University since 1966, Aston is a long established research-led University known for its world-class teaching quality and strong links to industry, government and commerce. Professor Dame Julia King became Vice-Chancellor of the University in 2006 which has recently undergone major redevelopment with the construction of the new £215 million pound “Aston Student Village”
Yorkshire Specialist Coatings were approached by Halifax Glass to carry out the Back-Painting of 6mm thick toughened glass panels for this high volume project, using AVKO’s specially formulated glass paint Avkote GP, shower enclosures and bath panels were Back-Painted for around thirty student flats in complimentary colours such as Yellow, Orange, Blue/Green and White.
Timescales were tight on this project, with our team working well into the night on occasions to ensure that the demanding schedule and deadlines were met. Avkote GP glass paint was used, this is a highly durable, especially fast drying, Satin 2K coating for Glass with very good weathering characteristics and good resistance to chemicals and mechanical abrasion, the colours specified were chosen from the Dulux
